Morris County is home to the Chesters, the Mendhams, and Long Valley. It is New Jersey's seventh largest county, and is known as the "Military Capital of the American Revolution." WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP ( LONG VALLEY) The Washington Township, where Long Valley is located, is approximately 45 square miles in area, and is about 50 miles west of New York City. The township is located in the Highlands Section of New Jersey and includes two mountain ranges?Schooley's and the Fox Hill Range, with elevations up to 1,134 feet above sea level in the Schooley's Mountain range and 1,034 on the Fox Hill Range. Route 24 winds its way through Washington Township and provides access to Route 206. Commuters can travel north on Route 206 to Interstate-80 or south to Interstate-78. NJ Transit's Montclair-Boonton Line provides service from nearby Hackettstown and Mount Olive to Dover, where connections can be made to New York City. A trip by car to Manhattan takes about one hour and 15 minutes. From Long Valley, it is about 45 miles (or a one-hour drive time) to the Newark International Airport. Washington Township was the home of the Lenni Lenape Indians who called the area "Long Valley." In the 1730s German immigrants came to the area and called it "German Valley." In 1789 the Township was officially established and was the first area to be named after George Washington. The Township includes Long Valley, Schooley's Mountain, Stephensburg, Drakestown, Middle Valley, Naughright, Fairmount, and Pleasant Grove. It is the most westerly township of Morris County and is a scenic location?with rolling valleys, woods, rural farmland, and beautiful mountain ranges. The current population is approximately 17,600 people on 45 square miles.

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP (LONG VALLEY): Washington Township is full of recreational activities?the most notable being Schooley's Mountain. At the Morris County Park on the old Camp Washington site, you can hike, ski, ice skate, boat, play ball, picnic, and more. Other parks include Cataract Park, Rock Spring Park, Scott Park, Califon Fields, Palmer Park, Cobblestone Field, and Hacklebarney State Park. High school students in Washington Township attend West Morris Central High School (WMCHS), which is part of the West Morris Regional High School District. WMCHS is noted for its academic excellence. Here is a question which is often asked about real estate sales: which home loan fees are deductible for income tax purposes? It is good to know the answer to this question before you sign on the dotted line. It may influence which loan you will choose. Loan fees for certain services are not itemized on your fee statement, but are grouped together into a single category.
The most obvious deductible fee is the loan fee paid to acquire a mortgage for a principal residence. The IRS recently ruled that the buyer could deduct the fee in the first year, even if the seller paid it! Other deductions include pro-rated property taxes and mortgage interest. On these items, the buyer may only deduct their share.
Most of the other closing costs are not deductible, but you may add them to your home's adjusted cost basis when calculating appreciation. Among these costs are appraisal, attorney, and inspection fees, as well as title, recording and notary fees. Fire insurance fees are neither deductible nor do they figure into the cost basis. If you are not sure which fees are deductible, consult a professional tax advisor.
